Standard Schnauzer

The Schnauzer exists in three sizes, medium, giant and miniature: the three races have practically the same aspect. The dog is robust, compact, of square construction. The head is robust, elongated, with the occipital process not very prominent. The stop is clearly delimited. The skull axes are parallel. The muzzle ends in a moderately truncated cone. The dark eyes are oval in shape and arranged semi-laterally. The ears are set high, worn erect if they are amputated; in subjects with whole ears, these should be in the shape of a "V", with the tip bent. The members are straight and solid. The tail is shortened to the height of the third vertebra: it is attached high and carried upwards.
