The Dogue de Bordeaux is not a "giant" dog, but a powerful and well-made dog, harmonious overall, very muscular on the neck, back and limbs. The head is large, characteristic, furrowed with wrinkles, broad and rather short: seen from the front, it has a trapezoidal shape. The skull is slightly convex; the muzzle is thick, short, square, slightly concave. The stop is abrupt. The jaws are extremely powerful, broad and square, prognathic. The eyes have an oval shape, are wide apart and large, dark in color. The ears are small, with the base slightly raised but drooping, of a slightly darker color than the rest of the dress. The neck is very strong. The thorax is powerful and deep; the back is broad, the kidneys short. The members are big. The tail, carried low, does not exceed the hock.
