The Cardigan Welsh Corgi are elongated, low-legged dogs with a vigorous, fast and active build. Welsh Corgi give an impression of substance and resistance in a reduced volume. The head resembles that of the fox. The skull is rather broad and flat between the ears; the muzzle is slightly pointed. The eyes are of medium size, round, of hazel color. The ears are straight, of medium size, slightly pointed: they are larger in the Cardigan than in the Pembroke. The tail is the clearest distinguishing feature between the two breeds: indeed, the Cardigan is provided with it while the Pembroke does not. The tail of the Cardigan resembles that of the fox; it is attached at the height of the back and worn slightly above the dorsal line. If the Pembroke is born with a tail, it must be cut off.
