The Alaskan Malamute is a classic Nordic dog with pronounced Spitz characteristics. It has a strong and compact trunk, but not too heavy; upright and powerful members; a brushed tail, plume above the body without touching the back. The head has erect ears, well apart, slightly turned forward. The muzzle is elongated but not pointed. The almond shaped eyes have a typical Nordic expression and are inserted obliquely. Even though it has similar characteristics with the Siberian husky, the malamute is stockier, more powerful, more stubborn and more dominant. The Siberian husky is thinner, faster while the Malamute is more enduring and will be able to pull heavier loads over longer distances.
