The Border Collie is an agile, elegant dog, but also very resistant. The head has a rather broad skull, a strong muzzle, a skull-muzzle ratio of 1/1. The eyes, spread apart, have an oval shape and a moderate size: they are dark brown in white-black subjects, amber or hazel in white-red and can be blue (only one eye, both or part of one eye or both eyes) for blue ones. The ears are medium, straight or semi-erect. The members are straight and parallel. The tail, moderately long and naturally hanging, must reach the hock; well supplied with hair, it ends curved upwards and straightens when the dog is in action.
