The Old English Sheepdog is a large, strong, compact dog, with a trunk inscribed in a square, with abundant hair all over the body, which is stocky and muscular. The head has a broad and rather square skull, curved at the forehead; the stop is well defined; the muzzle is strong and square, approximately half the length of the entire head. The eyes are usually dark, but one or both of them may be blue (minnows). The ears, small, are worn on the sides of the skull. The limbs must be straight and plump. Sometimes the tail is naturally amputated: if it was not, it should be cut at the base during the first week of the puppy's life.
