Norwegian Elkhound

Norwegian Elkhound are Spitz of a size slightly below the average (the black race usually has a lighter frame than the gray), with a compact and short trunk. The head has a large skull between the ears, a clearly marked stop, a moderately long snout which tapers gradually from the base to the nose. The brown eyes have a frank, bold and friendly expression. The ears are inserted high, erect and stiff, taller than wide, pointed and very mobile. The limbs are strong, vigorous and perfectly plump. The trunk is short, with the broad and straight back from the neck to the tail. The tail is tied high, rolled up on the back, but not worn on the side.
